Cynthia Neibert VMD
Veterinarian
Harold Neibert VMD, opened the animal hospital in 1952. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania 32 years later, Cynthia A. Neibert, VMD followed in her father’s footsteps, and continues to provide the same service Yorkshire Animal Hospital is known for.
Retired on July 31st, and will be greatly missed by everyone!
Dr. Henzler
Veterinarian
Dr. David J. Henzler has worked in both the government sector and private practice, including full-time emergency care. His career as a Locum or Relief Doctor, prior to accepting the Medical Director position at Yorkshire Animal Hospital, includes working at 75 different animal clinics in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. His undergraduate degree in Biology was from West Virginia Wesleyan College. His DVM is from North Carolina State University, and his Ph.D. in Veterinary Science is from the United Graduate School of Yamaguchi University, Japan. Additional course work included Penn State University, John Hopkins University, Emory University, and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Greensboro, North Carolina. He is also a trained Foreign Animal Diagnostician from the USDA, APHIS & ARS Plum Island Animal Disease Center (coastal Long Island, New York).
His government service included three state governments and two federal agencies. These positions were as Epidemiologists in infectious diseases with subject matter expertise in avian influenza viruses and Salmonellosis in poultry. He also served as a Public Health Veterinarian for the State of West Virginia.
This work included lecturing, training, and publishing in addition to travel throughout the United States and 12 foreign countries. Dr Henzler received numerous awards and recognitions, including two Presidential Volunteer Service Awards, a National Humanitarian Award, and an Outstanding Leadership award for the National Oral Rabies Vaccination Program in West Virginia. He also received the Outstanding Alumni Award from North Carolina State University, School of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Henzler has three grown successful children in various careers. He is a serious outdoor enthusiast. In his early days, he served as an Outdoor Guide for a Boy Scouts of America, High Adventure Base in Matagamon, Maine. In the last ten years, twice an instructor in downhill skiing at Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort. He is an active rail trail bike rider, including many years as a participant fundraiser for the American Lung Association at the annual April Greenbrier River Trail Bike Trek.
